Zhineng Qigong workshops at Kawaipurapura Retreat centre Auckland

The purpose of these workshops is to:

Day 1 - 10am-5pm Saturday 7 July - The Four Basic Exercises

These simple exercises can really boost your well-being. Benefits include improved strength, flexibility, improved Qi flow throughout the whole body.

Day 2 - 9am-4pm Sunday 8 July - The First Method

This level works to unblock the Qi of the channels (meridians) in the body so that the internal organs can be properly nourished. This is a profoundly effective method of bringing Qi into the body, and improving the immune system function. It can also assist with sensory acuity.

Day 1: Saturday - the 4 Basic Exercises

Zhineng Qigong squats for increasing spinal flexibility and strength

The 4 Basic Exercises work on opening energy channels, moving qi within the body and strengthening the body functions.  These exercises are suitable for all practitioners, especially beginners.  The Basic Exercises work well on all major joints, spine and lower back.  They create good effect in overall body, work on heart and lung organ qi, urinary and reproductive systems and conditions like Back Pain, High Blood Pressure, Sleeping disorders, Headaches, Digestive disorders etc.

1. Squats

Squats improve the flow of Qi from the top to the bottom of the body. In particular they help to improve flexibility of the spine and all joints in the body, improve blood and Qi flow, increase suppleness and tone muscles. After doing squats for a short while you will notice a huge improvement in simple activities such as squatting down to pick things off the floor, weeding in the garden and more.

2. Stretching Qi

Stretching Qi works to improve the in and out flow of Qi inside the upper body, in particular through the arms, shoulders, neck and upper back, where many of us hold much tension. This Qi flow is important in order for all the organs of the upper body (lungs, heart, diaphragm etc) to function well.

3. Bow Body

'Bow body, Arch the Back, Open Dumai' stretches the spine and Du Mai (Governing Channel up the back) and opens up points along the Du Mai. It nourishes the internal organs with Qi. Doing this exercise can open various channels in the body, especially the Du Mai (Governing Channel).  It works on the whole body, and specifically targets the conditions of the spine and back. Bow body assists with opening up the body from top to bottom, including increasing flexibility in the spine and joints, stretching the hamstrings and calf muscles, toning the meridiens from head to toe. After doing bow body you will find it much easier to touch your toes!

4. Turn Waist, Swirl Hips

'Turn waist, swirl hips, Qi Back to Dantian: This exercise is designed to draw external Qi back to the body and gather internal Qi in lower Dantian.  It is able to open the lower back, hips and the tailbone. It is good for those who are Qi deficient or have a weak constitution, especially with problems in the lower back, hips, reproductive system, urinary system, and the bowels. Swirl hips loosens up the pelvic area and improves Qi flow in the abdomen. It also encourages the gathering and storage of Qi in the lower tan tien, our life battery for physical Qi. It helps to keep the reproductive organs healthy and keep the pelvic area flexible.

Day 2: Sunday - The First Method

In Lift Qi Up, Pour Qi Down, one learns to bring Qi into the body from the infinite supply of Universal 'Huan Yin' Qi.

In this way we can replenish our energy reserves which we are constantly depleting in many ways without even realizing it. This exercise allows you to really 'feel' Qi and leaves you feeling peaceful, relaxed and ready to face the next thing in your day.

Zhineng Qi Gong Introductory workshop Auckland October 2010

Your teachers

Kim Knight - Qigong Instructor and Natural Therapist

Kim Knight has been practising Qi Gong since 2000, and like many people has found that is has profoundly changed and influenced her life.

After studying and using the practices of the Universal Healing Tao for 10 years, Kim was introduced to Zhineng Qi Gong in 2009 and was deeply inspired to dive into this system. To a large extent this is due to the absolutel authenticity of the system, and the teacher who has brought it to New Zealand, Master Yuan Tze, a true Qi Gong master. Zhineng Qi Gong is a complete system of life enhancement, personal development and health mastery.

One of the most noticable effects Kim has discovered is how it creates change at all levels of one's being: not only does it improve physical health, it also enhances mental clarity, peace of mind, and assists in the evolution of one's consciousness.

Angel Neshama - Qigong Instructor and Yoga Teacher

Angel's journey with Zhineng Qigong began in 2003 with Master Yuan Tze. Fairly soon into practicing Qigong, she experienced a significant improvement in her own health and well being while also witnessing some dramatic improvements to the health and life of other practitioners.

Angel is excited about the teachings implicit in the forms of Zhineng Qigong as it helps to ground her spirituality. Angel has a background in Theatre, Performance and Education. She has a Masters of Teaching and Bachelor of Arts (Theatre). Angel currently lives in Auckland with her 2 daughters. Angel teaches regular Qigong classes in Auckland.
